Her mom got her into the business when she was only 11 months old. She started off doing numerous commercials but at the age of 4 she was cast to star in the soap opera " One Life To Live". In 1997, she left the soap opera and appeared in many feature films.
In November 2007, an arrest warrant was issued for Hayden after she joined other protesters in protesting against the slaughter of whales. The group were charged with “interfering with international commerce”, after they hindered a Japanese whaling fleet in the Southern Ocean.

Hayden has been working on a documentary called Secret Dolphin Cove, which will be in theaters next summer.
